We are passionate about marine conservation

Founded in the fall of 2023, our hope for RHS’s Care for Coral is to create a fun and relaxed environment where we can educate and inspire our fellow classmates on the importance of healthy coral reefs, the oceans in which they live, and ways that we can help them thrive.

how it started

Georgia’s love for the ocean began at a very early age on Sanibel Island, Florida. On Sanibel’s beaches, with every step she took there would be a new, different seashell to pick up and observe. From jingles to junonias, she couldn’t get enough. At that point, her passion for sea life flourished as her knowledge grew and her curiosity expanded. Here, she is pictured holding a sea urchin after shouting, “Mommy, look what the ocean brought me!”

How it’s going

In the summer of 2023, Georgia spent some time at the Coral Restoration Foundation in Key Largo, Florida, where she learned all about coral and the incredible efforts the organization makes to preserve it. Her time there led to her creating Care for Coral in hopes of inspiring her classmates the way she was inspired by the team at the Coral Restoration Foundation. Here, she is presenting on the importance of wearing reef safe sunscreen when swimming in the ocean!
