For as long as I can remember, being near the ocean has brought me more peace, happiness, and excitement than anywhere else. One summer, I was vacationing on Sanibel Island, Florida, when beachgoers spotted a hammerhead shark in the shallow water. I remember it being the most spectacular thing I had ever seen. From that moment on, my love for the ocean only intensified as I grew curious about the creatures that lived below the surface. When it came time to begin thinking about what field I may want to pursue a career in, I came to the conclusion that if I could spend the rest of my life exploring and preserving the ocean I loved so much, I would be happy. Now, as a junior in high school, I have delved into the world of marine biology through traveling, researching, and speaking with various marine scientists to investigate everything the field has to offer. After spending some time at the Coral Restoration Foundation in Key Largo, I was introduced to the fascinating world of coral. I felt so inspired by their work that I wanted to bring it home to Pennsylvania somehow. I figured founding a club at Radnor High School would be a great way to do that! With the help of Eden Sule – vice president and a close friend of mine – my goal as founder and president of Care for Coral is to share with our peers the beauty and importance of healthy coral, healthy oceans, and everything in between.

Hi! I am an 11th grader at Radnor High School hoping to pursue an art major in college. I’ve always been fascinated by the vast ocean and how under researched it is. With every day we are documenting new discoveries that will help us understand the complicated ecosystem that is the ocean. As a high school student and vice president of Care for Coral, I want to help share this knowledge with teenagers and adults, hoping to raise awareness on how important protecting this beautiful community is. My dad has always called me a "fish", as I found every opportunity to be in the water no matter the circumstance. My hope is that everyone can live to experience the beauty of the sea, so let's work together to make that happen by protecting our coral reefs!
